Top 3:

1. ESPN channel 6
2. ESPN 2 channel 38
3. MTV channel 42

Bottom 3:

1. Cartoon Network channel 49
2. TV Land channel 50
3. Sci-Fi channel 35

My favorite channels are the ESPN channels because I like to know everything going on in the world of sports. I'll watch any sports on television, and these channels are the place to watch.

I, like everyone else so far, am not up to date on third world countries. However, at one point last year I was, but it was only because I had to be. For my writing II class with Dr. Smith, we had to watch the news every night and keep a journal. We couldn't watch the news of our choosing, though. He had us watch the Newshour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. It is pretty much the most dull television show on cable. While completely boring, I was very aware of the status of third world countries as well as the entire world in general. So last year I was aware of genocide happening in Darfur. That is all that I remember from third world countries.

My favorite website avp.com. AVP stands for Association of Volleyball Professionals, which is the professional sand volleyball league in the United States. I enjoy this site because I love to be up-to-date on standings and tournaments that take place. Since I saw them live in Cincinnati, I have become a huge fan, and I would one day like to play on the tour. The best thing about it are the pictures and real time happenings. One thing they could do better is make it easier to keep track of players. This is my motivation to have a job on the beach.

Obviously in watching these videos I noticed that the early years of television were viewed in black and white. Also, the amount of makeup that the actors or performers would wear was quite outrageous. The biggest difference, however, that I found was the amount of interest people had in television then as opposed to now. While most people today do watch a lot of television and have a certain weekly schedule of programming that they watch, people then seemed more intrigued by the television. This was probably due to the novelty of the television. Nowadays we, as a culture, seem to take television for granted. Plus, we have the internet in which we can get many more forms of entertainment. The interest that the people of then showed was displayed in one of the videos where a couple was sitting within a few feet with their eyes glued to the set. This could have been because of the relatively small size of the screen, but I also believe that they were so fascinated with it that they wanted to be as close as they could to the action.
